Another videocap from the clip of What a Crazy World in the previous post, out in a month's time. From left to right, Marty Wilde, David Nott, Alan Klein and Barry Bethel (I think).
Go to the Reel Streets website,
here, for six pages of comparing locations as they were at the time of filming with today.
How come I've never heard of this before? Yet I remembered for years parts of Three Hats for Lisa after seeing the Seventies TV screening (One of only two it ever got, so I understand), with equally fond memories of Cheapo Cheapo. So from one fan of Sixties teen musicals to another, let me offer you something that you've probably never heard of before, namely the East German "Heisser Sommer". Don't get too hung up on the fact that it's East German: for every serious political dissident there were plenty just trying to sneaky naughty words past the censor. Give these two numbers a try for surprisingly memorable songs and pretty smart direction. OK the choreography's a bit naff, but that's par for the course for anything that didn't come from Hollywood.
